Stepping out into the limelight, Carlotta opened her mouth and began her song; Unaware of the danger that had just arrived in a black brougham.
Christine was drifting out to meet her confidant. His shape was all she could see, as he had shrouded himself, even his face, in complete black. It might as well have been a trick of the eye he had developed. Either way, he seemed to stare down at her for a mere moment and stepped past her into the Opera House.
On the stage, darkness seemed to appear around her, just as she opened her mouth for another verse, and the witchcraft was ensued. Co-ack. And Carlotta's career was over.

And the Sharpie collection comes to the rescue again. . . . x3!

Well I say he gets points for trying. His adversary was Erik after all, which since Erik is practically the king of lurking makes Raoul's attempt so much more difficult, amazing he got that far.
You mean Carlotta's lines? They're straight from lyrics of the opera that LeRoux used in the book. But my fiance has my book, [I think] so I can't look it up at the moment.
I can't believe how differently people interpret these books!
I like my version. Although it sounds more old fashioned, the story is much more descriptive. If you'd like to hear my whole rant so far, I can note you. I've caught quite a few things wrong with the version you're reading... *facepalm*
So Raoul is trying his hand at lurking now eh?
I don't remember seeing those words in Leroux's book...
