BN-Pg13.2-The Beginning

When she assumed his task was over and he returned to her side, they boarded the brougham and the night closed in around the House behind them. Had he really done it? Was the House now cursed? She had no way of knowing of this dark secret. His hidden figure was now resting beside her, and facing the opposite window. Taking her chance, she tossed the hidden letter she'd been keeping, and watched it disappear into the gloomy street below.
That was if for the wretched woman. She had been forwarned, and she risked her life, and now she knew. There was a curse. Upon her, upon the managers, upon the whole House. Clasping her hand over her mouth, dark circles formed under her eyes as she froze in fear that the sound would somehow leap out again from her mouth.
In her mind, she could hear the ghost's laughter. It was all around her, and the sound carried up into the box where the two managers sat in complete horror. Looking up at them for a brief moment before running from the stage, she saw them look around anxiously. She didn't wait around long enough to hear the booming, devilish laugh around them.
Moncharmin and Richard grew paler and paler at the foreboding words: "The curse has begun."
And indeed it had. Who knew what terror would appear next.
