He brushed her aside and went about what he was searching for. Gently telling her his story was not one for her ears, he was caught off-guard when her small fingers snatched away his masque. The ripping of cloth and the angry snarl were what she heard as the demon’s hand grasped her neck and began to squeeze. His eyes were glazed over in a fiery fury, then tossed his head to cover up the side of his mauled face.
Accompanied by the sound that resembled leather, he stared down at her with an infuriated stance. Wings like that of a devil flapped and beat the cold air of the underground house on the lake.
